Ayurveda: Why we LOVE it!
Natural Healing Project adopts a liberating, empowering approach to healing, encouraging women to use their "gut feeling" or intuition to choose health practices that work for THEM.
We live in a world where we're lucky enough to have an abundance of information at our fingertips, however, we are all exquisitely unique so not all of it is accurate or appropriate for our individual needs.
It is our intention and pleasure to share our research, knowledge and personal experiences with you, to help you discover your own path to better health. I have found that that these 3 things have allowed me to borrow chapters from many different books (or health philosophies), enabling me to create my own path to greater wellness:
1) Curiosity: I am curious to find out what works for my body type
2) Open mind: I am open to both trying new things and discarding old habits that don't serve me
3) Intuition: listening and responding to that inner feeling that something is either right or wrong for me
While I feel great most of the time, the truth is that there is no limit to how good I can feel, therefore the journey of learning, growing and healing is ever-lasting!
As the beautiful Maya Angelou expressed:
"Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."
This definitely embodies my approach to health and the reason I resonate deeply with the teachings of Ayurveda...
Along with other health approaches, Natural Healing Project values the science of Ayurveda because it appreciates that we all have different health needs. Originating in India, Ayurveda is more than 3000 years old and translates simply to mean "Wisdom/Science of Life". Within this science is a comprehensive, inexhaustible system to personal and planetary well-being that emphasises the relationship between the individual and the rhythms of nature.
Ayurveda offers natural, nourishing and often pleasant health practices to detoxify the body and restore balance within. It recognises the individual as a unique combination of the 5 elements that constitute everything in our universe, being: Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Ether. This combination of elements is called one's Dosha, or constitution.
I particularly connect with Ayurvedic principles as the more I come to understand my Dosha, my unique body type, I am able to apply more and more specific health practices that work for me. It is like having a manual for life on hand when I need it!
We will be sharing our Ayurvedic journey with you - practices, recipes and rituals that have transformed our health over the years that may inspire you too. If you don't know where to start, that's OK. Complete a dosha quiz to give you a rough idea of your body type (it can take quite some time to fully realise, so be patient!) and will give you a starting point to come along on this Ayurvedic journey with us!
We are all at different points on the same journey and it is not about getting to the destination the fastest, it's about enjoying the ride with each other en-route!!
We'd love you to get in touch with any questions, thoughts or feedback and join the NHP community...
